Ten Messages of the Month

  1. Activities and programs galore.to be informed, you must regularly check the website!
  2. Tennis lessons are filling up and different from 2006. If you have a group and a program design idea, talk to Sarah Keir in the Pro's office.
  3. Pool programs. Private Lessons and Red Cross Swim Kids Programs available now. AquaFit and Yoga coming soon!
  4. The 4th annual OTLBC Pierre Despatie Memorial Tournament begins Thursday, June 21st - watch the website next week for details and registration due dates. This Open tournament has become an Ottawa favourite.
  5. Tournament sponsorship opportunities - GOLD sponsor needed! Last season, we had great success with the re-designed OTLBC sponsorship and advertising program and this year is shaping up just as nicely. We are still seeking a Gold sponsor and ask you to direct local business people and associations (members and non-members) who might be interested in advertising and/or tournament sponsoring opportunities for 2007 to contact Don Coletti (sponsorship package, including advertising) or Camille Lewis (advertising only).
  6. Housekeeping - with the awesome new courts and enhanced irrigation of all courts, we are experiencing a very high level of HarTru coming into the Club House. Before leaving the court, please knock-off the HarTru adhering to shoes and before re-entering the Club House, wipe tennis shoes on the exterior mats and/or stationary shoe brushes provided on the decks. Everyone thanks you.
  7. We have many first-time members in 2007 - please give a warm welcome to all.
  8. Speak-up-please see our first on-line Member Survey (via the OTLBC website). This is the best way we know to capture a complete, scientific, professional (and anonymous) picture about our club and the people who use it - how and when and why - and how we might make it stronger and better. You can complete it at home or at the Club on the computer in foyer and completion entitles you to $5 in café currency.your collective opinion is very important to us!
  9. Opportunities for OTLBC Junior tennis players at OTLBC are off to a great start:
    • Shawn Barker, TE member and OTLBC Webmaster, has stepped up to coach the NCTA Inter-club juniors (and he doesn't even have children!) League play is organized by the NCTA and three sessions are planned for the summer (June, July and August). Teams play Saturdays at 2pm at home or away, and Shawn is holding regular weekly practices at the Club.
    • Sarah Shropshire, OTLBC Assistant Manager - Programs, has organized the Junior Ladder, which is intended for play within the club at a recreational level. Please contact the Front Desk for more information.
    • The Family Classic returns: on Sunday, June 17th where Junior members pair up with a parent, adult family member or friend for a seriously-fun doubles tournament. Registration includes a pancake breakfast in the Cameron Avenue Café. Additional Pancake breakfasts may be purchased separately on the day-of.
  10. Report on 2007 Opening Days: The Club was blessed on all fronts for 2007 Opening Days. We had great weather and many happy people around. May 5th Tennis - fabulous; May 6th Lawn Bowling - superb; May 26th Pool - clean and hot!

That's all folks!
