Tennis
at the Ottawa Tennis & Lawn Bowling Club
The Ottawa Tennis & Lawn Bowling Club features 18 Har-Tru tennis courts, 12 of which are lit for night play. Join a league or ladder, take advantage of clinics for players of all levels, or follow the action on the courts from the balcony. We have an active membership, so even if you don't have a game, you can always stop by the club and find one.
Adult Ladders, Round-Robins, and Leagues
The OTLBC offers lots of daytime, evening, and weekend playing programs for all levels of players. House ladders, round-robins and doubles leagues, as well as inter-club leagues are all popular activities that many of our members enjoy.
All activities will begin the first week after Opening Day and continue until the end of the season. Details will be posted on the Club Bulletin Board and always updated on this site.
Weekly
Round Robins
The round robins and house leagues provide lots of opportunity to play. New members are encouraged to participate, since this is a great way to meet other members. Most events operate on a casual "drop-in" basis or by weekly sign-up at the front desk. More details on the format of each activity can be found on our Round Robin page.
House Ladders
The house ladders are an excellent way for members to meet new playing partners. Players are slotted in houses of 4-5 players, and have 3 weeks to arrange games with each of the players in the house. Players then move up or down in the ladder, according to their results. There are three ladders: Men's and Women's Singles, and Mixed Doubles.
At the end of the year there will be prizes for the season winners. Details can be found on the Ladders page and more information will be posted on the club bulletin boards as the season progresses.
Interclub
Leagues (Daytime and Evening)
The OTLBC enters teams in the Tuesday and Wednesday NCTA Evening Mixed Leagues. The Tuesday league is for players rated below 4.0, and the Wednesday league for players 4.0 and above. Each team consists of 4 men and 4 women, and we can field up to two teams each night if there is enough player interest. Teams are placed in boxes of 5-6 clubs. Each weekly match comprises two sets each of men's and ladies' singles, men's and ladies' doubles, and mixed doubles.
The OTLBC also enters doubles teams in each of Divisions 1 and 2 of the Women's Daytime Interclub League, which plays Thursday mornings.
Placement on Interclub teams is through tryouts in early May. League play usually starts in late May and continues to late August. Tryouts will begin soon after Opening Day, so check the Member's Page for details and dates.
