Junior Programs & Activities

The OTLBC pros and volunteers provide an exciting junior program throughout the season. The focus is to introduce tennis to juniors, so they can develop their skills and have fun playing with their family and friends.

The OTLBC uses a progressive tennis system, which is the international standard for teaching juniors, and is sanctioned by Tennis Canada. Progressive tennis helps young children learn on a smaller court, with smaller racquets, and softer balls. This method of teaching allows children to develop their skills progressively. For older juniors, or more experienced younger juniors, we develop their skills on a full court, with full-sized racquets and regular balls. Our goal for all our junior programs is to make tennis a sport to enjoy for life.

Attention Pool Members

You are welcome to participate in all of our tennis programs at a member rate!

Friday Family Night

Family Mixer Round Robin

Join us for a fun family round robin on court from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. This mixer round robin invites families and juniors of all levels and ages. It’s all about making connections and having fun with friends and family!

Movie Night in the Bowler’s Lounge

Join us every Friday night at 6:30 pm in the Bowlers Lounge for a FREE children’s movie. Please note that there is no official supervision, just a great space for your child to relax in and watch a movie. We also encourage children to eat before or after, not during, the movie to help keep our Bowlers Lounge clean!

Sunday Junior Programs

Let’s Play!

  • Sundays from 12:45 - 1:30pm
  • Ages 4-10
  • Weekly sign-up
  • Members only - FREE
  • Volunteer run

Volunteer members who love the sport lend their time to organizing this introductory tennis program for juniors 10 years and under. By using junior-sized racquets, progressive red tennis balls and smaller nets, we set your little player up for success. Fun is the foundation as we build skills through play. Due to demand, there will be two age groups; the “Aces” group (4 – 6 years of age); and the “Smashers” ( 7 – 10  years of age). We encourage parental participation, so be ready to bring your “A” game!

Junior Stroke of the Week with Mykell

  • Sundays from 12:45-1:30pm
  • Ages 10-18
  • Weekly Sign-up
  • Members only - FREE
  • Learn with a pro

Juniors age 10 and up are welcome to join our tennis pro, Mykell, to work on specific strokes each week with an emphasis on proper grip and footwork. After the program, kids are encouraged to book a court to practice their skills and play with new friends. This program has something for everyone. Whether you’re a social/recreational youth or a competitive tournament player, this time is your time. Get involved, make connections with other youth at the OTLBC and get in the game!
